La Fondita Mexicano - Waukegan

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Waukegan... actually, in Lake County! Great food and very friendly service. The machete is of special touch, but the taco on homemade tortillas and Birria are also OUTSTANDING! I wish I had found her years ago, but I'm coming back for years.

Excellent food quality! Food full of flavor and you can feel the love and passion that goes into the food. Service is kind and welcoming, restaurant is clean and spacious. Truly is one of the best restaurants in town!

After years of passing by La Fondita our dinner group decided to give them a try this past Saturday and help support local. It was a nice September evening, so we decided to sit outside under their covered tables. We were promptly waited on and started with a round of margaritas, an order of cocteles de camaron (shrimp cocktail) and chips with guacamole. Dinner brought us tacos al pastor, machetes asada, pupusa’s papa and chorizo, arrachera w/shrimp, and the chicken enchiladas. Everything was excellent and freshly prepared, large portions and served exactly as their pictures show. The margaritas were made with your choice of tequilas and fresh chunks of fruit in them plus fruit garnish. The prices were on-par with the quality of food we were served and there was a regular flow of curb-side delivery traffic while dining. After passing this restaurant daily with never stopping, we have found ourselves a regular dinner spot with authentic food and attentive staff. I am sorry it took us so long to try it!

Had a dinner date with my son here; definitely will visit again. My son is picky about his food but managed to eat more than half his meal. He had the Arrachera Deluxe. Great food. Great service. Very clean. Yum! Thank you
