Opa! Gyros - Wausau

I enjoy this place, kind of hard to see from the road. I wish more people knew about this place, the people who run it have always been very friendly and the burgers have been really good as well as the gyros.

First time I got food here I was overcharged, however gyro and fries were excellent. Next time I went, it was 4:30 and although they were supposed to be open until 6 pm, they were closed. I won't be back...too inconsistent.

I had a gyro and Greek fries. The meat was dry and had a weird aftertaste. Greek fries were drowning in dressing with next to no feta. Nice owner, but not nice enough for a return visit, I'm afraid.

It was our first time here. We ordered a #1 (regular lamb gyro and a #4 combo (BBQ gyro . Rec'd two #1s instead. Wait time was ridiculous (20 minutes! because the order speaker wasn't working per the sign [more like it wasn't installed at all! , so cars wait in line just to get up to the window where patrons both order and pick up their food. This really shouldn't be considered a drive thru; it's a counter restaurant with a small number of staff (2? that should be a walk up place. It offers no inside seating and the outside seating is 2 dated picnic tables with worn umbrellas on BLACKTOP (ick no grass, landscaping, or green space period . Very cold feeling nothing inviting about it. Location is poor; off road access is poor for northbound traffc. It doesn't help it's adjacent to a used car dealership. Don't bill it as a drive thru (more like a sit and wait . I can put up with a hole in the wall place if the food is good. Sadly, there was nothing remarkable about the food. The french fries were clearly old, dry, no seasoning. The pita was good, but the meat had really no seasoning to it . Will not return. Have told family not to bother. This place moved out of the Wausau Center Mall for some reason. It should have stayed there and gone done with that sinking ship instead. I give it 6 months.

I visited this restaurant with my daughter and ordered two gyros, fries, and a drink. Our food was ready in less than two minutes, and the gyros were quite good. The fries were hot and perfectly seasoned, and the woman at the counter was incredibly friendly. We will definitely return!
