Bidra med feedbackI've been here a few times, the first time everything was perfect. however the second time my burger was soo under cooked it was inedible. I Kno this.is my fault but I hate sending food back. If the place was consistent with food I'd give 5 stars. It's literally either perfect or not good. Maybe they have different chefs but If I come back, I'd get something hard to mess up like artichoke dip or nachos.
I am specifically writing this review based on the food...as I'm a foodie, and the food was awful. I legit wanted to throw up afterward. If the bartenders weren't so nice, I would have given it one star. The restaurant itself is a chain, so it is what it is, I didn't expect much. We came in for lunch, the place was pretty dead. The bartender was friendly, and personable and let us try a bunch of Oktoberfest beers, which was nice of her. They do have a decent selection of draft beers. Okay...the food...I wanted to try their beer cheese soup, thinking okay it would be cheesy and have a nice hearty broth made with Guinness. OMG disguising. I don't think there was any real ingredients in this, all preservatives and fake substitute ingredients. It was a nasty muddy consistency, no broth at all and honestly, hard to eat. For lunch I had their spicy Southwest chicken wrap, it was gross. I wonder if the chicken was even real chicken, makes wonder if they buy from the same company as McDonalds...so bad. After I left, I felt like garbage, I really wish I hadn't eaten anything at all. I understand it's a chain like Hooters, so you can't expect good food, but honestly, they could make it edible.
After learning about this place from Undercover Boss, I have wanted to come by. Just for a comparison to Hooters. This place is probably a bit bigger than all of the hooters that I have been to, but a bit confusing if you're looking for the bathroom, I almost walked into the back kitchen... Friendly wait staff and a decent selection of beer. There's plenty of tvs around, so would definitely be a good place to watch games. The waitress that I had was pretty decent, I would not say she gave the best service ever, but it was pretty good, and it was supplemented by runners and other waitresses. Overall I would say Tilted Kilt is better than Hooters in terms of service. I had the Irish Dip sandwich with the garlic fries. The sandwich was alright, but the fries were mighty delicious. My friend and I also shared an order of wings, bone-in of course. They're nice enough to let you have two sauces even though the order is pretty small. There was a total of 9 wings and we go the signature and the hot sauce. The signature is sort of a sweet and sour sauce. The Hot buffalo was a creamy hot buffalo that's very tangy and first, and finishes with a kick. Not the biggest fan of the wings, but they were okay, probably comparable to Hooters.
First and foremost, they have Big Ten Network. That got me in the door, and also is one of the reasons why I have returned and will continue to return. I've dined here three times to date. Twice have been to watch sporting events only televised on the Big Ten Network, the third time with some coworkers for lunch. The waitresses wear very skimpy outfits (skimpier than Hooters). Not exactly my cup of tea, but I guess it brings in business. I've tried a variety of items on their menu. Appetizers We've had the Irish Nachos, Calamari, and Chicken Quesadillas. The Irish Nachos are unique in that they are on crispy potato chips. They had good flavor, I just wish there were more than two of us eating them. It was a lot for two people. The Calamari was good, not too overly breaded, but the portion size was small. Of the three appetizers we ate, the Chicken Quesadillas were hands down our favorites. The tortilla was crispy and the contents had great flavor. It is served with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. The salsa was spicy, the guacamole was bland (so disappointing), but the sour cream hit the spot. Flatbread Pizza On our first visit to Tilted Kilt, my husband and I shared one of the flatbreads. It was crispy, had great flavor, and was easy to share. Quite enjoyable. Sandwiches We had the Scottish Cheesesteak. It had good flavor, but too much bread compared to the contents. Entrees (Pub Fare) I had the Fish Chips. This is a classic menu item for any Irish bar. It did not disappoint. I recommend swapping out the regular fries for sweet potato fries. They were pretty great. We most recently went this Wednesday night to watch a basketball game. We arrived while it was still Happy Hour. The happy hour specials are good, half price select domestic drafts and half price appetizers. To our surprise, Wednesday nights are Trivia Night. So we played some trivia as well. We highly enjoyed this. I think we'll be back again on a Wednesday night even without a sporting event to watch.
While I wouldn't recommend this location based on my initial experience, I have to admit that the sandwich was quite tasty. I might give other Tilted Kilt locations a chance before completely writing them off. However, this first visit definitely left a negative impression. I stopped by again later, and the service was much improved!
