Bidra med feedbackONNURI 감자탕 is a joyous discovery for any food lover! The 감자탕 (pork bone soup) is divine, brimming with tender meat and a broth that 's pure comfort in a bowl. Every side dish sings with flavor, and the warmth of the staff adds to the delight. A must-visit for a heartwarming, delicious dining experience!
Went in for lunch and it wasn't too busy, the atmosphere in the restaurant was really warm/homey and welcoming, our waitress was such a sweetheart! The food was okay, we got the cheese tteokbokki, chicken dupbap, spicy cold noodles and shrimp fried rice I feel like the cheese tteokbokki could've been better, they were too soft, less chewy and the sauce was lacking a bit, the chicken dupbap was also mediocre but the cold noodles were really good! And the shrimp fried rice was good.
Food was average at best, I had the Kimchi stew and it was alright, expect for the fact they only put the worst scarps of pork, cartilage and bones. definitely better out there. My friend got a sausage stew (number 11 on soup section on menu). The liver was cooked terribly, she said quote never had worse liver in my life, reminded me why some people hate eating liver . And the texture was of tires. The broth had an amazing ability to taste like nothing and yet also like swamp. The service was strange at first, but deplorable at the end. When we first sat down, we were given the menus and water by a lovely lady. We both intended to share a soup together and asked how big the portions. The man had rudely and loudly told us that the food was intended for one person only. At the time it was weird but whatever. but when we ordered, (11 and 12 on soup section) the man refused to put my order in, saying how 12 wasn 't liked by Koreans and wasn 't popular and refused to write my original order. He then pressured me to get the MOST EXPENSIVE dish on the menu instead, which is when I ordered the kimchi soup which was a reasonable price. As previously mention, my food was okay, my friends food was terrible. When we went to pay, and finished paying for our food, he yelled at us for a tip. And wouldn 't let us leave without it. We were both reluctant to, as tips are earned, and we both definitely felt that he didn 't deserve a tip. He yelled until I gave him a five dollar bill for a tip. After he took the change he still expected my friend to give ANOTHER tip even though I gave him five dollars.. I gave him another because I felt bad for my friend to tip when she hated her food. And even worse, he took my change as well when I paid cash. I 've never been so infuriated with a service, and I don 't know how I kept my calm.
As a first time customer eating here I must say I'm extremely disappointed at what I received. The Korean spot that I normally go to was closed at this time so I choose this one based on what I wanted, (Bulgogi) and what their menu item looked like. The first photo is from their menu, the second is what they gave me. It was 95% onions, next to no beef. My son ordered the spicy Bulgogi and it was the same thing. There was such a lack of flavor as it was mainly watered down onions as you can see in the picture. I had to take the side dishes and add them to the main just to give it some flavor. The only reason why this review BARELY gets two stars from me is that they were very generous with the side dishes. The sides were better than the mains. Others may not have had the same experience as I have here. All I can say to that is as we are non-Koreans, maybe they figured that they could get away with doing this to us as what would we know. Well, Korean food is my favorite and I regularly eat at Korean restaurants through out the GTA. This has been my worst one.If you are looking for a great Korean place to try in the Mississauga area, try Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu. They have a very flavorful BBQ Bulgogi with good amount of meat. Rice comes with the meal and it's not an extra charge like Onnuri. It's also purple rice and not just white like what you get at Onnuri. I will also say that if you are not Korean and your looking for at least a half decent place, please don't eat here. If it's going to be your first time it will spoil what could have been a great experience.Update: Based on what other reviewers have written here, it looks like it's a normal thing that they do to non-Korean customers. They give them next to no meat.
ONNURI is an absolute gem of a Korean restaurant that left my taste buds dancing with delight! The Tteok bokki they serve is hands down the best I've ever had. The rice cakes were perfectly chewy, and the spicy sauce had just the right kick to keep me coming back for more. And let's not forget the Bulgogi tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, it was a true culinary masterpiece. The ambiance at ONNURI is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy these delectable dishes. I can't wait to go back and indulge in their amazing Korean fare again!Parking: Lot of parking
