Deluxe Expresso - Wellington

Fantastic cafe! They consistently offer a wonderful variety of delicious food and excellent coffee!

I wanted to check out this café after discovering it’s run by the same owners as Maranui, which happens to be my favorite. I wasn't disappointed! While there’s no full kitchen—just counter food and a coffee machine—the food is fantastic, featuring the same healthy and delicious recipes as Maranui! The service is decent, and the atmosphere is unpretentious, which is a nice change of pace compared to many upscale places that don’t offer the same quality of food. Located in the city center and open on Sundays, it's a quiet spot that I will definitely return to often for a quick lunch at a table or to take away.

We go most Sundays. The coffee and food is excellent. Coffee is ready within a minute of ordering. Usually there are one or two new food items each week. Staff are friendly and efficient. Lamingtons last week were top draw.

However, during the film festival, Deluxe really shines. After indulging in several coffees and slices, I was reminded of why this cafe has stood the test of time; it truly delivers quality. Even with the crowds, each cappuccino and flat white was outstanding, the service was fantastic, and the food was genuinely enjoyable—something not always guaranteed at cafes in Wellington. I also appreciated the union aid bags for sale; it's refreshing to see politics intertwined with food, though I did find it amusing that there were no ponytails in sight. It’s almost as if Deluxe and Rosie's embody the politics and culture of our respective cities. I highly recommend this spot to everyone, regardless of their personal beliefs.
