Hummingbird Eatery - Wellington

Excellent service and delicious food! The shared lamb shoulder could easily serve four, which means we've got our dinner for tomorrow all sorted. Lucky us!

The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are friendly, and the food is excellent. It is somewhat expensive, but overall, it's a fantastic experience for a special occasion.

Everything was wonderful until we tried to order two servings of lamb for our group of six, who were planning to share several dishes. To our disappointment, we were informed that if six people were sharing, we would have to pay for six individual portions at $38 each. When we explained that we only wanted enough to feed two, the staff became unfriendly and rude. I've never experienced such poor service before. While the food was tasty, the service left much to be desired. We even had to speak with the manager to request a different waiter due to the unsatisfactory customer service, but unfortunately, the attitude didn't improve. Overall, the dishes were delicious, but the disappointing service overshadowed the meal. I would recommend saving your time and money and choosing another restaurant that truly deserves it.

We used to really love this place and the menu, however it seems like they've increased prices dramatically. I would be fine with that if the amount or quality of the dishes increased as well, but I felt very hungry after finishing the tiny 38 nzd steak which came with a few grilled green beans on the side. The taste was great, Ioved it, but the size of the portion was absolutely not worth the price. Sad, but will probably not visit again.
