Bidra med feedbackI can only agree with the last review. Really poor. We both had cod and chips. Cooked in oil that needed changing weeks ago resulted in greasy over cooked chips. Cod was small with poor batter again because of the oil. This place needs to up its game considerably. If you haven’t guessed…..not recommended.
The fish lacked flavor and came in small portions (half a cod fillet), but this turned out to be a blessing in disguise given the poor quality. The batter and chips were heavily overcooked, and the prices were unreasonably high for such low quality food. There were no positive aspects to redeem the dining experience. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.
I was disappointed with this fish and chip restaurant, as it did not embrace its seaside location or offer locally caught fish. The quality of my chips varied, indicating that two batches were mixed. Additionally, frying small pieces of potato with normal chips made them extremely hard. There were no visible sachets of mayo or sauce and the salt and vinegar were lacking. The unnecessary use of a fancy paper carrier bag for just one portion of fish and chips, which was only a short walk away, seemed excessive to me. Overall, this restaurant did not meet my expectations.
We went here for takeout on a recent stay in Lyme Regis. Fish (haddock) was freshly cooked for us as were the chips. Perfectly cooked and not too greasy. Quite simply one of the best fish and chip shops I have been to outside Scotland.
We were here on a busy Friday evening in September. Orders taken, then we waited in the street, all good. Good sized portions, loads of chips we should have just ordered one portion between us . We had a cod and a plaice, batter a bit too hard for me, the fish within was ok . All in all, decent, but I suspect that there are better fish chip shops in Lyme .
