Bidra med feedbackSpecial vegetarian plate comes with banh cuon filled with mushrooms. You also get the typical sides that go with their variety plates (made vegetarian) which is nice. We went mid-afternoon after a lunch rush and it wasn't too busy. While I was waiting for my takeout order, the employees checked on my order and gave me an update on my wait time.
Came here to eat in person for the first time in a long time and this is the place to go for Banh Cuon if you're in OC, nowhere does it better. Just don't expect 5-star service, just the normal Vietnamese indifference lol. Their fish sauce/nuoc mam is the best and their banh cuon is the perfect thickness. The only reason for taking off a star is that their pork loaf/gio is not the good kind, it's a bit too bland. The shrimp with sweet potato fritter is a must!
We love love love this place! It's a favorite among my office staff. I could drink the fish sauce that comes with the Banh cuon. And of course, the Banh cuon is authentic like my grandmother use to make. It's full of ingredients (not like other places what sprinkle a few dots of ground meat), and the sweet potato cake that comes with the Dax biet is delicious down to the last bite. I CRAVE this place!
This is our go to spot for banh cuon!! lf I remember correctly, I ordered the banh cuon dac biet. The sweet potato tempura w shrimp are the best!!! Super crunchy and savory. Honestly, it's the highlight of the dish. Cha lua (pork sausage) was average. Banh cuon was soft, moist, good. The mung bean fritter was super crispy; I loved it! I really like their nuoc mam. Everything pairs so well together. I also ordered the hu tieu kho. Pretty good flavor. The broth on the side lacked flavor. Compared to other places, this didn't stand out to me. Of course, they specialize in banh cuon, so it makes sense. But beware of ordering this dish because it takes a longer time to make. Also, the service is okay. It's quick but they forgot our order on 2 separate occassions! One time we went, my table finished our whole meal, and one person was still waiting for their hu tieu. Another time, 2 people ordered hu tieu. They brought out one and forgot about the other one. I had to remind them twice before it came out. I understand they are busy though. But because of those experiences, I will not be ordering the hu tieu again. I just highly recommend the banh cuon plates, the shrimp potato tempura, and the banh uot thit nuong.
They have 3 vegan chay options that are just as delicious as their special. I have the chay special, that comes with choppy filling, roast tofu, mung bean cake and her specialty the crispy sweet potato tempura! Vegans and vegetarians get their own alternative sauce instead of fish sauce, which is very tasty and is full of Umami also. At $11 for a full dish, it is a great place to eat with vegan and not vegan together.
