Bidra med feedbackSituated in one of the many strip shopping centers along the notoriously congested US Highway 421, reaching this place can be quite the hassle, and traffic seems to have only gotten worse. The exterior is bright and inviting, while the interior tends to be somewhat dim and a bit noisy. They describe their chopped grilled pork as Lexington style, and it does come close to that classification, although the red BBQ sauce is quite thin and lacks the sharpness most versions have. Instead, it’s a sweeter, tomato-based sauce with some nice spices mixed in. The pork itself is chopped moderately and is tender, but doesn't carry any noticeable smokiness. Priced at $4, the sandwich is large—about 5 inches long—making it a good deal. Overall, I’d definitely consider coming back for this BBQ.
The food is decent, but the music is way too loud to fully enjoy your meal.
My wife and I share the big combo plate. The food and service were both exemplary. I grilled all over the country and put Tipton against another grill I've ever had. The service was fantastic, our server (Megan) did a wonderful job and I would recommend Tiptons without reservations.
My First Time Tipton's BBQ. And certainly not my last. I had pulled pig, Okra, Slav and potato salad. The pig was tender and juicy. The Okra was slightly baked and fresh. The potato salad was the best I've ever eaten! I love cooking, and I'd say it's better than mine. I wish we had one in Hickory, NC!
Awesome place to eat. I stopped there with the fam on the way to boone. I am from Lexington so I thought oh no it's not the same. I was wrong. Wow. The BBQ would be the best in Lexington or close to it. which is saying something. I had a combo plate and the smoked chiken is the bomb. Ribs were sweet and spicy at the same time. I loved them. Lots of awesome sides, and they have pork skins yummy.
