Bidra med feedbackWow. Ok. This has to be a hidden gem amongst the row of restaurants there. However, be warned. Hawkers food this is not. This place caters actually for the westernized chinese tongue. However, in the midst of all these, comes hidden gems of traditional Chinese food. We came to this place as Taurus is now horribly bad and bamboo was packed. When we got there on a Saturday, the place was deserted. All up in the hour we were there about 8 other people went in to order. Undetered we went about the menu. Their hawkers specials does indeed look authentic. However as we ordered a combination bbq rice and it was unavailable we decided to order share food instead. What did we have. We tried the traditional honey chicken, squid fried tentacles, fried rice with chicken salted fish, japanese sizzling tofu and the sambal kangkung. Have to say, amongst all the dishes the chicken was standard honey chicken and unfortunately the chicken was also soggy and not crispy, however, the taste was decent and compared to Taurus is miles ahead. Squid fried tentacles was delicious, well floured, tasty and it has that crunch with every bite you take. Fried rice was brilliant, it was actually really good, it tastes similar to the Indonesian nasi goreng but with the salted fish and chicken it did really hit the spot. Now, the two best dishes for last. The sizzling Japanese tofu is very good, in fact I have to say one of the best I had in Perth. The tofu was fried first to perfection. Crispy and yet moist on the inside the sauce they used is YUM! God damn I can't have enough of it. Sambal kankung just is a taste of home. Belacan is delicate and not overpowering, this is some good veggies. Those leaf died for a good cause let me tell you.... So all in all, this is a good alternative to the places there. Its westernized but also has those special touches with its traditional chinese dishes. I will recommend this place. Well done Singapore Hawker Cuisine. All the best!

The hawker was an overall pleasing experience to eat at, but the reasons this got a 3.5 rating is because the honey chicken was too sweet, the seating that my family sat at was way too close to another family's and we couldn't get out of our chairs without hitting the other table and we could hear each others conversations clearly. Otherwise, it would have gotten a nearly perfect review.
First thing I notice is that the decor is very below average, but it is only a hawker so you really shouldn't expect much in terms of setting. The fried rice in my opinion is one of the best that i've had and the squid was the perfect texture. I loved the food and the only reason it is not getting a 5 from me is because of the unpleasant scene.
I wish I could give a half star. Ordered Sichuan fish, tasteless. Salt and pepper squid was ok. Singapore Bee Hoon mediocre. The food here tastes far from Singaporean - more like a Chinese buy without any awareness of what Singaporean food tastes like. We like flavour. This is not a Singaporean hawker place. Will never return.
