Hobson Bay Fish & Chip Shop

Bought a lot of fish and Chips; so much so we needed an empty Box from the shop. The box was to the Chips they use; ingredients included the oldest, most unhealthy, most abominably derived cheap tasty chips trick. I'll let you guess but to give you an idea; look up what rendered animal fat is.It's a cop out and really annoyed me that I found this out after I had eaten the **** as I was breaking down the box to recycle it.So many reviews saying these are the best chips and they likely all written not knowing the cheap chip trick that this place was using. If you are vegetarian or choosing not to eat meat; rather fish this is not the place to go.

The fish we had was fresh and most importantly was not soggy...a real winner for us. The chips were cooked brilliantly and were crispy with just the right amount of salt. Take them down to the pier and enjoy the view of Melbourne and Hobsons Bay

This is a plain ordinary looking fish and chip shop. However the fish is the best ive eaten at a fish and chip shop and l dare say any resterarant, the batter is crisp and thin, while chips potato cakes and the lot are not dripping in oil and service is prompt and friendly

The staff were scary and made me feel uncomfortable while making my order. The staff use foul mouth language and children come in the shop hearing thier cussing. The food is over cooked and taste awful. Don't go there

Popped in here as caught out with hunger - service brilliant and the fish choices were fabulous. Well worth a visit to experience 'normal' high quality food which was tasty and traditionally served.
