The Black Swan - Wiltshire

We enjoyed our evening meal here. We are local but hadn’t been to the Black Swan for a little while it has been nicely updated and improved since we were last here. The food wasn’t cheap but it really was excellent. They had a small menu and explained that it doesn’t change that much so I’m not sure how often we’ll revisit but we will definitely be back. The service was excellent the staff have obviously been well trained and we felt welcomed and well treated. We were sat at the back and we thought it may be a bit secluded but there was a large party in that area too and a couple of other smaller tables so the atmosphere was good (although it was a little noisy luckily the large group were not particularly loud).

Not a great experience. Waited for over 15 mins for drinks once ordered. Further drinks order was forgotten. My burger was raw so I couldn't eat it. Not what you expect for £19.50! When handed back to waitress at the end they deducted the cost of the burger but still charged £7 for the chips... very petty. At no point during the meal were we asked if our meals were ok where this could have been rectified. Such a shame, we had a great meal here about a year ago. Not sure what has happened but won't be rushing back.

Staff were excellent setting is beautiful and the food is the best. My wife is a vegetarian chef and has owned restaurants in Covent garden as well as locally for the past 30 years. She has said this is the best vegetarian meal she has ever had out. My fish was perfectly cooked and a combination of flavours was excellent. Can’t wait to go back again, just wish it was closer. Worth the visit for the Chick pea chips alone!!

Fabulous Christmas Eve lunch Managed to get the the only table available in the bar area on Christmas Eve. We were visiting the area for Christmas, had nowhere to eat on Christmas eve and we’re beginning to panic. Thank goodness we found this place having walked from our campsite in Seend. The staff were so attentive, the atmosphere was great and the food was Amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, we had a three course meal that was outstanding. It made our Christmas, so thank you to the staff!

Very limited choice of vegetarian vegan options, actually only 2 I absolutely refused to pay £18 for the veggie risotto, couldn 't have as the Italian cheese WASN 'T vegetarian So had the falafel halloumi burger instead. Definitely not worth £9.50, very stingy on the halloumi very bland. Sorry but won 't be returning in a hurry ....... ....
