Fox And Hounds Country Pub And Dining Rooms

I recently took my wife for a date night at this hidden gem in the Hampshire countryside. The food was served with a smile and tasted delicious. The prices were very reasonable, and I particularly enjoyed the belly pork dish. We finished our meal feeling very satisfied and had no complaints at all. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Family meal for 7. The service was fantastic, very friendly staff in a lovely cosy pub setting. The food was outstanding, I sometimes find it hard to find something that excites me but there were 4/5 things I couldn’t choose between. I went for the lamb shank cottage pie which was absolutely delicious. All of the family commented on how much they enjoyed their food. We will definitely be back.

One of the best kept secrets in Hampshire. Down a long road in Denmead lays the Fox and Hounds. This was the second visit for my wife and myself but this time with my sister. The sole member of front to table staff greeted us as if we were returning friends. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and our meal was perfect.

When for my (adult) son’s birthday (wanted to eat somewhere that wasn’t your typical pub chain) can not fault it whatsoever. Service was excellent with very welcomely and friendly staff. The food was extremely delicious and a wide choice (so much so my husband wanted to go back the next day and try something else) . The restaurant service was brilliant and prompt. I can’t find fault and will definitely return soon. Highly recommend!

Sad to see such a nice pub so quiet on a sunny Saturday lunchtime, there was only one other table when we arrived although garden was busier by the time we left. Service was a bit slow, as appeared to be only one server covering the bar and restaurant. Extensive menu plus a specials board which probably makes little economic sense. Bhaji starter was dish of the day, spicy and delicious but could have served less mango chutney, mains pork belly was tender but a bit heavy on the black pepper sauce, burger and fish chips were fine especially the chips. Duck off specials board less successful skin wasn't crispy and flesh was grey and tough, raspberry jus needed to be sharper to match richness but dauphenoise was delicious. Banana bread butter pudding very sweet but light, affogato served in a coffee cup was difficult to eat with a dessert spoon and the hot coffee and cold ice cream should be served together. I would suggest making the liquer optional (at a supplement) and serve with a biscotti or something for texture. The pub has a great reputation for its food, but being so quiet it lacked atmosphere, which is a shame.
