Bidra med feedbackThis used to be our favorite pizza place whenever we visited The Dells. However, tonight I called and learned they now rely on DoorDash or Uber Eats for deliveries. At 9:20 PM, I placed an order for a cheese pizza and a couple of their homemade fries through Uber Eats, thinking our hotel was just a 10-minute drive away according to Google Maps. Unfortunately, our order didn't arrive until 11:00 PM, nearly two hours later. Uber Eats kept indicating that they were waiting for our order to be prepared. When the food finally showed up, it was cold and practically inedible—soggy fries and a completely cold pizza. I ended up throwing it away, which was really disappointing. I won't be ordering from here again.
That said, the gentleman working the bar and serving the tables was fantastic. I was impressed by how he managed multiple tables, maintained a friendly demeanor, and still found time to tend the bar. This man, wearing a bandana, was the highlight of our visit. As for the food, it was just okay—definitely could have been better. The cheese curds were standard, and when my dining partner mentioned that Culver's does them better, I couldn't disagree. We also ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a pizza. When our food arrived, it was clear from our experience in the food service industry that there had been a timing issue. The sandwich was prepared before the pizza was finished and had been left to sit too long. The bun was soaked and a mess, while the pork and fries were lukewarm at best. If the sandwich had been served fresh, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars; today, it was a 3. The same goes for the fries—they were still good when served warm, but they would have been great hot. Now, onto the pizza. The good: the sausage was delicious, the crust was consistently crispy, and the sauce was excellent. The bad: the cheese was the only downside for me; it seemed off—kind of tough and chewy, although still acceptable as bar food. Overall, I think "lukewarm" best describes our visit to the Green Owl.
UPDATE: First of all, Graci Jankauskas, I see you're the owner of both Green Owl and Ravina, which share the same building. We were upstairs during our visit. Secondly, I mentioned those superior establishments because they are in the same price range. My bill was not $120, and I actually tipped over 25%, which is low for my usual tips. Third, the lovely couple I referred to is my daughter and son-in-law. Fourth, your establishment is advertised as a craft whiskey bar, but you can't even make a proper Manhattan, which should be chilled and served like a martini or on a large piece of ice, not on rocks. Lastly, I was a patron of the previous owner and found your negative remarks about him very inappropriate. I stand by my review.
