Capitol Bar & Grill - YARRALUMLA

Absolutely spectacular, had a really enjoyable night here with my boyfriend. Service was great, atmosphere is something else - beautifully thought out and decor is so tasteful. Cocktails and wine were great, with an extensive selection. Oysters for entree were huge! I then had the grilled seafood (without bacon), and was very very impressed. Salmon was delicious, scallops and prawns were cooked perfectly on a bed of a kind of potato-mash-salad. Partner had steak which he loved (I appreciated the complimentary sweet potato fries that came with). On the expensive side but absolutely worth it. Large meal sizes - we were too full to try their famous donut ball desserts :( A slight discrepancy with the bill (which was quickly amended) Would highly recommend - will be back.

Excellent service, but I found the lunch menu a little in the heavy side - that said it is a grill restaurant. The Rosti at breakfast were excellent, some of the best I've had.

Recently refreshed, it feels very modern, and has been extremely well thought out. I've dined here a couple of times. I tried coleslaw salad along with the fig and cheese dish - absolutely gorgeous!

The Dear Luncher has stayed at the QT Hotel several times so this review is the culmination of several meals at the Capitol Bar and Grill. It goes without saying that the surrounds and general aura of the place is second to none. The Speakeasy theme and political theme of the hotel itself is extremely eye catching.  The Dear Luncher has sat down for meals in the Grill itself, and also ordered room service a few times. Recently the Capitol Burger was ordered.  While it looked absolutely stunning, it left a lot to be desired on this recent visit. Dry as a bone in the middle, which is strange for a place that prides itself on stunning meat preparation. The bun was also stiff. If The Dear Luncher was judging The Capitol on just that recent meal alone it would be a much lower score. As such this is a combined scored over several visits. thedearluncher.wordpress.com

Highly recommended if you want to enjoy high quality Australian steaks. My son and I shared the "Rib eye for 2" on the bone and it was tender and juicy cooked to perfection. The choices on the menu are simple but appetising. We kept on looking at other people's orders and wished we had ordered it. The service could be better though, which is why they only get 4.0 from me.
