Bistro At The York Theatre Royal

As club members, we called ahead to purchase our tickets for the summer season. Since it was lunchtime, we decided to stay and have a meal. The special of the day was a delicious beef casserole in red wine served with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was outstanding in every way, with the meat being tender, plentiful, and succulent. Priced at £10, it was also a fantastic value. The service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. This restaurant definitely deserves more support.

I had a delightful meal at the cafe for lunch today. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were fantastic, offering helpful advice on food intolerances and the menu. We enjoyed our meal outside in the charming patio garden area, but the indoor space also looked inviting.

Ordered chicken jalfrezi and it was cooked fresh and served 15 minutes later. Really nice. Followed that with a piece of Yorkshire fruitcake. The red Pinot noir was fine. Quite an enjoyable experience.

Ordered the Tomato and Basil soup for my young daughter which was £4.95 and when I asked for bread to go with it, I was charged £1.50 for a slice of white bread from a packet. So £6.50 for one ladlefulmof soup and one slice of bread!!! The person behind the counter was polite but incredibly slow. Not a grea experience

The food at the Bistro is good but depending on what you order can vary between quite small and huge portions, which makes deciding what to have quite tricky! In this day and age the coffee was not as good as I'd expect, especially with the quality of their cooking.
