The Unicorn Ballarat - BALLARAT CENTRAL

Had breakfast here on a crisp Sunday morning. We both had the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on sourdough bread. The eggs were done to perfection and the sauce was rich and creamy. Lovely atmosphere and great service.

We regret not reading the reviews before walking in here and were fooled by it being busy and assumed it was good. Like many other reviews we unfortunately had really bad service and disappointing meals. Numerous tables that were seating after us had their orders taken and delivered before us. Our hot drinks were a 20 or so minute wait and resembled hot watery milk. Our meals which arrived around 45 minutes after ordering were overpriced for the size and flavour wasn't the best. They weren't terrible however for what they were, they should have tasted better. The place is rather lovely and the hipster servers weren't too bad either.Could do so much better!

I recently revisited The Unicorn to grab a coffee. Despite only ordering a simple takeaway flatwhite, I had to wait about 15 minutes in a near empty café because the service was so. slow. After placing my order for something that takes a couple of minutes to make, the employee opted to go out and tidy tables and move furniture instead. If I hadn’t already paid, I would have left. The coffee was also very average. I doubt I will ever return due to the sheer amount of decent competition in close proximity.

What a quaint and quirky cafe in the heart of ballarat - friendly staff and decide to keep you looking around - the coffee came out hot as did the food which was delicious with a twist - it was great to see the use of old vinyls still being used with a variety to keep you happy - the games scattered around also added an additional fun factorA definite must stop if your looking for a bite to eat in a comfy surrounds Compliments to the chef and staff :)

Great food, simple meals done very very well. Would definitely go back to try more. They obviously care about making good coffee and it shows. Relaxed atmosphere made for a pleasant Saturday lunch.
