Bidra med feedbackWe ordered Afghan cookie, banana milkshake, truffle pastry and masala Dosa. Masala Dosa was very nice. Afghan cookie and pastry were dry! Banana milkshake was very thick but delicious. It's slightly on the higher end as compared to other cafes in Dharamshala. The vibe at the place is nice and its surrounded by greenery.
The cafe is decent, nothing extraordinary. The food is okay. However, the highlight of the visit was the dog. He was well-behaved and even knew how to shake hands.
First, this is the open cafe with pastries and fast food, not the restaurant with the buffet and dining food. Others have mentioned how the staff are kinda rude and unprofessional. I agree with that completely. They are too busy talking and gossiping amongst themselves to give a care if you are helped or not. There is no concept of service. We got 4 pastries and a couple of cookies. The mud cake was really great....moist and chocolatey. The cookies are crunchy, and I prefer soft cookies, but that is a matter of preference. They had good flavor, and I enjoyed them. We also got the Apple tart, which we really enjoyed. Nice crust and good filling. However, the blueberry muffin was a disaster. It is cooked in a waxy cup used for drinking, and all the wax melts into the muffin. Plus it tastes like it was not baked but cooked in a microwave. If you have ever cooked cake in a microwave, you will know what I mean with the texture and taste. In any case, I am not sure how toxic those cups are, but they are not meant to be cooked in. Finally we got the black forest cake. We didn't care for it because it had so much whipped cream and very little cake. But some people like that. We just didn't care for it. So overall, we had mixed emotions about the place. The staff are horrible, and the food is hit or miss. The place is lovely to sit and enjoy tho. So i suggest eating lunch at the restaurant and getting dessert at the cafe. But don't have high expectations, and you will not be disappointed with the bad service.
The staff are not attentive and not interested in serving anyone . Two other families sitting next to me felt the same . I decided to walk a few steps to their restaurant named norling restaurant which was even worse. The manager and entire staff appeared completely not interested in attending to any customer. Courtesy , manners and just basic good sense were lacking . This place was good 2 years ago but anymore. The omelette prepared was bad compared to chonor house and Serkong house , these are the other properties run by Norbulinka. The food quality is very poor and unhygienic as well. I would suggest touring the place but eating outside ,
A small cafe in the Norbulingka Institute just after entering the gate. Has both open and shaded space for small snacks. However, cost of each item is unusually higher as compared to other cafes. Taste is good and service is OK. Main items are mango, banana and shakes, cold coffee etc.
