Pirate De La Mer - Bouctouche

Lobster rolls are absolutely on point. The poutine however can use some work, they are served with what seem to be Costco crinkle fries topped with shredded mozzarella cheese, not the best. My recommendation to Pirates de la Mer, would be to cut, blanche and fry local potatoes and use real curd (squeaky) cheese.

Food was ok, and fish was kind of soggy instead of crispy. I did take issue with the wait time. I placed my order over the phone because I was heading out with my two dogs in the car and didn’t want to leave them waiting too long. I was told 10 15 minutes… I arrived at about the 15 minute mark, and was told it would be another 5 10 minutes. So I went out with my dogs and waited another 10 minutes before going in again. Still not ready. It took almost 40 minutes to finally get my food. I’m fine with the wait time, but please give more reasonable estimates.

Had checked the reviews prior to stopping here for lunch. Restaurant was full and there was a line up to order, not an issue for us. Ordered a lobster roll scallops for my husband and a cheeseburger with bacon for myself plus an order of homemade fries to share. We had brought our corgi, so knew we would be eating outside. They have numerous clean picnic tables for patrons. My husband's lobster roll scallops were delicious according to him and from what I saw, they did look good. The lobster roll was served on a hotdog sized bun. $17.99 I have an allergy to both lobster scallops, so cannot eat them. : My burger was missing the cheese which I had paid for and was also so over-cooked that it was dry and hard. I had also paid extra for bacon on my burger and it was the teeniest, tiniest slice of bacon I have ever seen. The homemade fries looked good, BUT they were cold and soggy. I couldn't understand this. The restaurant had one empty table and there was a constant moving line up for take out orders, the fries should have been fresh and hot. 3 stars for the seafood and 0 stars for the burger and fries.

Great food, but the fries were a little undercooked which is subjective. Some like them Golden, others like them a little whiter... The scallops, clams, shrimp and fish were excellent fried to perfection. I'm just wish my fries were the same colour.

This place came highly recommended by some local peers but was a letdown. Meagre lobster portion in their lobster roll, and the crab roll was a total miss unappetizingly grey and flavourless filling.
