Bidra med feedbackWow, nice addition to the downtown area in Chester. Small dining room and bar that offers eclectic decor and a little bit of history. Food was fantastic along with the service at the bar. Wine and beer only which is perfect for us and certainly reflective of the efficiency in service. Menu offers comfort food- no calorie counting here! Come hungry, big portions! Specials on Wednesday night. Parking can be a challenge on a busy night so seek the municipal lot up the hill when arriving.
Hot French Chix is a new addition to the already wonderful Chester restaurant scene. I was watching it as a place to try, and was finally lured in by a special they posted on Facebook. Every Wednesday, they offer a fried chicken banh mi with sweet potato chips and either a beer or glass of white wIne, all for $16. We went on a chilly Wednesday night, but it was cozy inside Hot French Chix. We sat in the bar area, in a large booth by the window. The decor is very nice, it's a very inviting space. I was definitely ordering the special, but we decided to start with the deviled eggs and the bread basket. The eggs were amazing! I loved all four varieties but the bacon and smoked salmon were my two favorite. The bread was great, nice and fresh. The special fried chicken banh mi was huge and fabulous! The chicken was cooked perfectly, the slaw was a perfect topping. The sweet potato chips were a nice light side, you wouldn't be able to eat anything too heavy wIth that huge sandwich! The wine that they offered for free with the special was decent too. My husband ordered the spicy creole fried chicken, which was also great. I loved the pimento Mac and cheese, definitely different than your average Mac and cheese, with a little kick. We decided to get dessert they weren't too large, and honestly, everything else was so good that we were eager to try them. I ordered the apple crisp with ginger ice cream. One of the top 5 desserts I've ever eaten! It was so good and the portion was just right. The bartender (who was our server) said they make everything fresh each day, including the ice cream. My husband ordered the pot du creme and loved that as well. Food and atmosphere were perfect, service was on point. This is a great addition to Chester's Main Street, and we can't wait to go back!!
Thank you to the chef-owners, Everett and Linda Reid, and our waitress, Maureen, for a lovely dinner in Chester, CT on the outside patio at Hot French Chix on Saturday evening, October 3rd. Downtown Chester is adorable and this was our first time here. Connecticut Magazine shared the following review: The restaurant features global French cuisine with influences hailing from Vietnam to Canada to Louisiana and beyond. An elegant yet relaxed setting is enhanced by a bill that ends up being lower than expected for the quality and ambiance . We started with a local, organic beet salad that was excellent in taste and the fusion of colors of yellow and purple beets was perfection and a work of art in presentation that tasted amazing. We had a Julia Child burger with Roquefort cheese, grilled onions, etc. and my sister-in-law had the lamb burger. We had sides of mac and cheese, and baked beans that had a kick of spice, that enhanced the meal. Maureen shard that she has worked for the chef-owner before and the style of cooking combines both French and Vietnamese flavors. The owners previously ran L&E French, which specialized in high-end French cuisine. Everett studied at the Culinary Institute of America and Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, and the couple had previously owned American Seasons and then Restaurant Mona on Nantucket. A few years after debuting L&E French, they opened Good Elephant upstairs at the same spot. Amazing food and service, so if you plan to go a reservation is highly recommended, and all tables were socially distanced and we felt safe!
Our first time there sure to be the first of many. Delicious food with really amazing complex flavors. Tried the shrimp bisque with crispy calamari sooo good, and not too creamy/heavy. Also had the falafel wrap. I love falafel and these may be the tastiest I've ever had smokey (yum) with a touch of sweet. And the portion was huge. And the price was very reasonable. Curbside take out was super easy. Can't wait to go back!
We rang in 2021 with the Julia Child burgers from Hot French Chix as we had just re-read the Julia Child memoir. Wow! These were the best hamburgers of 2020, and I consider myself a hamburger connoisseur. Served on a brioche bun, the pattie was so juicy and flavorful. The accompanying, plentiful hand-cut fries with the skins still on (yes!!! were also unmatched in recent memory. Truthfully, we carved the burgers in half once we got home and each burger became two meals. Based on this initial experience, we can't wait to work our way through the rest of the menu. We did take-out during the pandemic, so we cannot speak to the dining experience. Calling our order in and picking it up at the appointed time was easy as pie. The woman who took our phone order was very friendly. Overall, a great experience that left us looking forward to further orders from Hot French Chix.
