Bidra med feedbackThis restaurant was highly recommended by locals from another town and I can see why. The reviews online were all positive and after trying the food, I can confirm it was amazing. Located in a Polish community, this place serves authentic Polish food with generous portions and reasonable prices. The pirogies were a standout, much better than the frozen ones from the grocery store. They were stuffed with potatoes, cheese, and bacon and absolutely delicious. There is also a vegetarian option available. The kids' meal was also impressive, offering a variety of options and even including a pirogi and raw veggies. The daily special, schnitzel on a bun, was delightful and served with cole slaw and a choice of onion rings or fries. Both sides were tasty, with the onion rings being a personal favorite. The pirogies with sautéed onions and a house salad were delicious, especially with the poppy seed vinaigrette. The caramel bread pudding was also a hit. The restaurant filled up quickly after opening, as the food was clearly popular. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by this place - you won't be disappointed.
The staff and atmosphere at this restaurant are fantastic. The food is consistently excellent! It's a must-visit if you're in the area.. you won't be disappointed! They offer live entertainment, reasonable prices, tasty pierogies, and a variety of traditional Polish comfort foods. Don't hesitate to go! You'll be pleasantly surprised! They even have free parking!
I have been hearing about this restaurant for years from my best friend, who always stops here after canoeing in Algonquin Park. Finally had the chance to try it today and it definitely lived up to the hype. My spouse and I shared a plate of pierogies, which were filled with cheese and bacon and topped with fried onions and sour cream. The real standout was the caramel bread pudding, which was moist and served generously with sauce and whipped cream. I highly recommend this delicious comfort food.
Very, very, very good food. Today's meal could not have been better. Authentic Polish cuisine--second to none. Located in the heart of Wilno ON. Wilno is the first and oldest Polish settlement in Canada. The original settlers in this area, circa 1858, were mainly of Kashubian origin from the then Prussian area of Poland.
THE HYPE IS JUSTIFIED. This place in amazing. Weekends the Wilno Tavern offers a Polish buffet that will leave you staggering out so full that you won't need to eat for a day or two. Incredible, massive pierogi, nice cabbage rolls, and a spicy mustard to go with their sausages that fortunately they sell to go (along with their salad dressing). I've passed this place dozens of times going to and from Petawawa but never actually had the chance to stop until this weekend when I actually planned deliberately to hit it. On arrival the place was packed and I was a little put off by how slow the service seemed until I realized it was two women running the whole show in a massive crush, and I couldn't be upset about that. Finally they had the chance to get to me, and poured me a beer brewed especially for them by Kitchessippi Brewing and I headed to the buffet. I felt slightly awful going back for more, but I couldn't not get more of everything. I left so full I didn't eat until the next day. For what? $15? Awesome.
