Bidra med feedbackThis place just across from my hotel. The menu is mixed and we concentrated mainly on seafood. Great service, good wine selection and food above average. Most tastes catered for. Excellent and recommended!!
Excellent food to the highest quality at decent prices. We had oysters, langostine and fish of various sorts but ehsteak was also really good. The athmosphere was quite but it can be very busy so book. Staff and chef were excellent and I noted wheelchair access. The whole place is beside the beach and a great place to finish off a good day.The cost about 108 Euros for three people for Michelein star food - well worth it.
Menu looked OK, but food rather disappointing. Steak good, with chips, but had to ask to get the 'salad' that should have come with it. Sea bream was a tiny fillet with a tasteless herb sauce and an aubergine mush parcel, OK but not good value for money at 17 euros. Like another recent review, we were surprised that the waitress asked if we had reserved and had to check if there was a space in the almost empty restaurant. She was also keen to speak to us in English and talked us through the menu in a condescending way - we can understand French menus and come to France for a French experience. Wine and beer good. All in all it was OK, but was not a great evening and not good value for money.
We visited this restaurant in November, as we had last year. It was one of the few restaurants open in Douarnenez on a midweek evening. The staff spoke to us in English even though we had a reasonable understanding of the menu. It is in a lovely location near the beach at Plage de Sable Blanc, and they specialise in fish and seafood. Well worth a visit.
Affronted that we had not made a reservation despite it being Wednesday in mid October and there being no other diners, the miserable waitress somehow managed to find a table in this huge soulless restaurant. The worst fish soup in France, very thin, unseasoned and with an unhealthy stale fish aroma was not a good start. My clams were at least edible but a mere 9 specimens in salty brown liquid seemed rather economic given that we had watched the locals gathering them at low tide by the bucket load. The sea bream fillet was cooked correctly but served with an utterly flavour-free mush of glass noodles and beansprouts which tasted of a tainted frying pan. My fillet de boeuf was far from seignant (rare) being charred and by French standards 'bien cuit'. It was served with a mystery tasteless veg accompaniment that may have been turnip. The desserts were dreadful dry factory produced things the colour of chocolate but no flavour apart from sweet. By far the worst dining experience anywhere in recent memory - avoid at all costs.
