Cholo's Homestyle Mexican - Haleiwa

That is a really funny restaurant on the north shore. they have the front doors open and random native chickens wander in to eat the tortilla chip pieces that fall. I wouldn't call it the best Mexican I ever had, but it was definitiw funny and the laid back vibe was cool. the food prices were also decent for the ultra expensive Hawaii area.

After feeling weary from reading reviews, a friend recommended that I try the margaritas at this restaurant. So, before heading to our dinner reservation, we decided to stop by for some appetizers and drinks. The nachos were a hit with everyone and the variety of margaritas was impressive. Although I can't speak for the food, the drinks and nachos were exceptional!

It's okay, but wouldn't call it homestyle I do come from an area with pretty much the best Mexican food so my standards might be a bit high. The cheese enchilada was pretty good. Best thing about it all was my wait person, she was super nice, wish I had caught her name.

The fish taco and shrimp taco were just ok. Not overly flavorful. Chips , salsa and guacamole were the same. I loved I. Texas the last 20 years and this does not strike me as authentic Mexican in any sense. The beer was cold and the staff was friendly.

Beautiful place for tacos, burritos enchiladas. I was happy with my cadillac margarita.
