Bidra med feedbackNot a vegan friendly place at all. We were told over the phone that they have plenty of vegan options — and even have marinated tofu! That was a lie. When we got there, the person working the counter didn’t inform us of our options, and really seemed annoyed to be dealing with vegans at all. We got the one veggie option that seemed we could veganize but had to remove many of the ingredients. We waited over 40 minutes for the most basic sandwich imaginable. During the wait I thought maybe it was taking so long because they had to marinate or bake the tofu, or make a vegan sauce, but no. What we got was unseasoned tofu cubes and some veggies on some meh bread. I went back to the counter to ask for any sort of sauce to make the sandwich better, and they came back five minutes later with some french’s mustard. I’m honestly so insulted that they felt comfortable serving this to us especially given the wait time and price. Not to mention we were lied to about options available to us. Just be honest and tell us you have nothing for vegans. Oh, and the coffee was more weak and flavorless than a keurig.
We had lunch at Latitude 59 on a Sunday when many other places in Homer are closed. At first, the menu seemed quite limited for vegan options. However, when we asked the staff, they were very knowledgeable and informed us about the house-smoked tofu, which isn’t listed on the menu, but can be substituted for any protein. This opened up our options, and I ended up enjoying a hearty and refreshing salad.
They do offer one vegan sandwich on the menu, but it is a hummus wrap. So bonus points for having a vegan option, but the option itself is not terribly exciting. They also have tofu, which can be subbed in any sandwich. Unsure of what sauces/condiments were vegan, I asked if they could make me a tofu sandwich on ciabatta with whatever else they wanted on top. The cashier said that the chef would be excited about the challenge. I received all of the ingredients from the hummus wrap on a ciabatta with tofu added. So while I am very glad I was able to eat a pretty good sandwich, I was hoping for something more interesting and creative. The staff was all in a great mood singing along to music, and that was lovely.
Six of us stopped by for a quick bite and ended up enjoying an amazing breakfast along with great drinks. The burrito was the standout dish, while the breakfast sandwich was just okay. My ham and grilled Swiss sandwich was excellent. The service was outstanding, and we dined on the terrace. I highly recommend this place!
This place is fantastic! It’s a fun spot to enjoy a delicious meal. The food is the best I've had in Homer and all of Alaska!
