A walk around the 6ième quarter of lyon on a cold Saturday night looking for a cheap restaurant began to look a bit hopeless. there were some expensive who were open, but we wanted something 'cap and happy ', not quite a bar / caffe, but not... skinny kitchen, too. we stumbled into a warm Italian place, handsome, ready to order, but, unfortunately, they served only for lunch, drinks only later. but incidentally recommended monsieur a place on the street, turn right and it has blue in it's name, and so we discovered B.Bleu, a cozy and charming restaurant that is bigger than it looks when they go up. but we were on the ground floor, with a view of the half-open kitchen, and warmly welcomed by one of the two friendly staff. we had laughs in the estragon sauce, a lot of sauce, so it was good that it came with a small beside dish of rice and carrots. However, I have made some of the delicious baguette also available to make it mop. we had great difficulties in selecting from the dessert car various tortes of chocolate, apples, apricots, pears and the traditional lyonnaise praline; crème karamell, fruit salad, marinated cirschen, caramel disc so many and I am sure I have forgotten some! or they can make one of the 22,50 € or 25 € in the night, cheaper to lunch. we stay in lyon for a stay, so it looks like B.Bleu will be a favorite!
We walked a little looking for a decent restaurant and ended up at the one next door to our hotel. The food was delicious, well presented and sufficient portions. The desert trolley is great too. Make sure you are clear which menu you are having,...we thought we had asked for the two plate formule but ended up paying for what we chose off the a la carte, thinking the formule choice was from the a la c. Our fault for not trying harder with our franglais! Nevertheless, a great place to have dinner. Make sure you check out the mural.
Right outside our hotel this small restaurant was just right. Lovely service and nice food. Quite traditional and the dessert trolley is a must!
The ambience of the restaurant is wonderful. The wine is good and reasonable. The food is superb, and beautifully presented. Very good value. Hors d'oeuvres, main course, cheese, and pud with a nice bottle of red, coffee and Grand Marniers for two for £90.
