Forbidden City Express - McLean

This is our favorite Chinese takeout spot! The staff is friendly, the portion sizes are generous, and the food is delicious. We've tried their lunch specials as well as dinner options. They offer a fantastic variety, from standard Chinese takeout to customizable hearty noodle soups. We were thrilled when this place opened (especially since they mentioned they started during the pandemic), and we're really glad they made it through!

Hunan Express is my top choice for Chinese takeout in McLean! We frequently order Spring Rolls, Mongolian Beef, combination fried rice, Beef and Broccoli, and Hunan Chicken. The food is always consistently delicious and flavorful. The staff is friendly, and they offer excellent delivery service.

This was likely the worst quality Chinese takeout I've had in years. I might consider giving them another chance to see if the food has improved or if I just visited on a bad day. That said, I'm puzzled as to how this small takeout place has received so many 4 and 5-star reviews. The food is decent and the restaurant is generous with portions. But... we ordered for delivery and the food never arrived. I called twice. They had the order, but not a driver. Took an hour and a half to get our food. By then it was cold, congealed and not very appetizing. Dinner was late and ruined. If you can't pick-up, don't bother.
