Bidra med feedbackFirst time visiting First Watch was at the Hampton Location. First visit we had shrimp and grits, and the traditional pancake breakfast. I really enjoyed the ambience, waitstaff and food. We will be returning.
Both Hampton and Newport News are areas with limited or unknown breakfast areas, unlike Williamsburg, Norfolk and Virginia Beach, all of which have plenty of places to go to for both lunch and breakfast. Williamsburg has countless pancake and waffle houses, while Norfolk boasts plenty of seafood and barbecue places to local folks and visiting vacationers. Now, however, the 1st Watch restaurant chain provides a convenient place to go to for breakfast and lunch in the Hampton Roads area. Their menu displays an alternate choice of both healthy and enjoyable meals. For breakfast my Grubbing Buddy decided on the three corn tortillas with scrambled eggs with Cajun chicken, chorizo and shredded Cheddar & Monterey Jack cheeses each were topped with fresh avocado and housemade pico de gallo. For my breakfast I chose the huge multigrain pancakes and topped mine with blueberries and hot maple syrup. Both were incredible! The first store originally appeared at the Tech Center in Newport News; the second store showed up in Hampton’s Peninsula’s Town Center. There’s a wait to get in to be seated for both place. So if you’re hungry for either breakfast or lunch (they don’t serve dinner), I would take a try at one or both of their locations. The wait staff is friendly and the food’s inviting.

The anticipation is finally over. I made it to First Watch after months of good intentions. I arrived a little after 7:30 am with very few patrons and a smiling face to seat me. I loved the minimalistic rustic vibes but I especially LOVED the Chile Chorizo omelette! The egg was cooked perfectly and the pico de gallo served with it complimented every bite. I must say the most pleasant surprise was the mixed green salad served on the side! I didn't know what to expect but it was absolutely delicious. My friend had the Classic Eggs-Benedict and said it was one of the best Eggs-Benedict she had ever had. I can't wait to go back and try something else on their colorful menu.
Pretty good place for breakfast or lunch. I ordered the breakfast tacos and they were quite good and just the right portion for me. The meal consisted of three tacos on corn tortillas and a side of black beans. The avocado served on the tacos was fresh and delicious. The black beans were pretty average and no better than canned beans from the store. I don't like tomatoes so I had the pico de gallo served on the side. My dining companions had other special requests for their meals and I must say the waitress and staff did a great job of accommodating and getting the requests accurate. I'd like to go back and try some other things on the menu.
