Bidra med feedbackWe enjoyed a leisurely drive from Victoria up to North Saanich to try out Bistro Muse - well worth the trip. Outdoor seating was in a small patio next to the vinyard. Blue the Bistro Dog greeted us in a very mannerly way with her one blue and one brown eye!The regular-sized seafood salad was generous - and more crab meat than I've ever seen on a salad! Ribs were tender and succulent, and the accompanying muse salad was deelish, and again, generous. The veggie panini with added salami was yummy with melted cheese and avocados - not overfilling. Finished our meal with berry crumble and truffles. Service was low key and attentive - chef herself brought out some of our dishes! Be sure to take a look at art by local artists in the Ortega Room, the bistro's event venue. Oh, and yes, they have wine!
We enjoyed a wine tasting and decided to stay for lunch and have some more of the wine. We had the charcuterie platter with wonderful cheeses and meats. Just the right amount for 3 ladies for a light lunch (with a couple glasses of wine). We sat outside by the vineyard, and it was just lovely. The dogs and cat came over to say hi but didn't stay. I guess they don't like cheese that much.
Just a few minutes outside of Sidney BC is the Muse Winery and its outdoor patio bistro. The bistro is open spring, summer and fall and offers an enjoyable place for lunch among the vines and gardens at the winery. They offer a broad selection of Muse wines and a good selection of well prepared dishes, mostly from fresh local ingredients. We were well served by the staff when we visited in early September on a warm late summer day. This is a recommended lunch stop if you are out touring the Saanich area and want a quiet spot away from the hussle and bustle of Sidney
We have been to the Bistro Muse a few times for lunch and also have experienced the dinner/theatre evening events (different dates through the summer). Lunch on a beautiful sunny day while sitting in the garden vineyard area is great. The menu is varied fresh salads, shared plates or delicious meals (the ribs are very tasty!). The dinner/theatre evening is a wonderful evening experience. They serve a buffet meal followed by a play by a local theatre company. They also offer the theatre on a few Sundays throughout the summer, so you could have lunch beforehand. There is also wine tasting available and a small retail area selling local crafts and wine-related objects. The staff are always pleasant and attentive. If you are coming from Victoria take West Saanich Road for a leisurely country drive out to Deep Cove and then relax and have a wonderful meal at the Bistro Muse. If you are coming off the ferries turn off the highway at Wain Road and carry on towards Deep Cove. You will not be disappointed.
We went to Sea Glass Grill in Sidney for breakfast and then drove north & west on Lands End Road to get to Muse Winery. We didn't eat there, but I must say the drive on Lands End Road was magnificant. The Muse winery was very pretty and the bistro looked wonderful. If we had not already eaten we would have tried it. The menu looked good and the outdoor tables surrounded by grape vines looked very inviting.
