Foods On First Too - Philadelphia

I might reconsider my star rating in the future, but for now, I have a few concerns. There was a strange musty smell in the restaurant that reminded me of damp mold. No one was wearing gloves or masks, and I noticed some staff eating with their mouths open near the food preparation area. One man was just sitting there drinking coffee, and I didn't see anyone washing their hands. When I finally received my platter, I quickly left. The rice was bland and had a mushy texture, resembling mashed potatoes. The chicken was mostly bones and gristle. For $17, I expected a decent meal, but all I got was a plate full of oil and disappointment.

I visited this restaurant twice in the last month, although I usually just get takeout (mainly breakfast sandwiches). I find it to be a bit on the pricey side. On my first visit, I ordered the French toast, which had an unusual taste, and the eggs were overcooked. Today, I tried the spinach and feta omelette, but instead of a proper balance of egg and spinach, it was mostly spinach with just a hint of egg. The flavor of the egg was nearly non-existent amidst the overwhelming spinach and feta.

I ordered the hotcakes platter, which came with scrambled eggs, home fries, and bacon, and I also tried a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. Both dishes were outstanding. The hotcakes were fluffy, and the syrup had an organic taste. The prices at this diner are very reasonable, making it accessible for everyone. My waitress, Angie, was delightful and attentive. Overall, I had a great experience. The meal was quick, the service was excellent, and the prices were fair.

This place remains one of the top breakfast spots in Philadelphia, no doubt. However, I've been getting a negative vibe from the sole waitress during my last few visits, despite consistently leaving a good tip. I might just order my food to go next time.
