Aj's Pizza - Pompton Plains

I'm excited to be the first to write a review for this pizza place! I had never heard of it until I came across it on the Slice app while searching for something to eat. They offer a fantastic deal on the app: two pizzas, ten garlic knots, and a soda for just $21—a great price! I also noticed some other attractive offers in their flyer. Plus, they were one of the few places open during this pandemic, so I thought, why not give it a shot? I'm glad I did; the pizza turned out to be quite good. The crust was a little undercooked for my taste, but I'll be sure to request it to be cooked a bit longer next time. Overall, I rate the slice a solid 6.7, although there’s definitely room for improvement. I found the sauce to be a bit lacking in flavor, but I’m open to giving them another try. This restaurant has gone through several owners since I've lived in the area. It started as Papa John's, then AJ's (which was quite good), followed by Ajay's (not so great), and now it's Pizza Shoppe 23, which is the best so far. They offer excellent value, delicious food, generous portions, and wonderful flavors. The staff is friendly and experienced, with a nice traditional pizza-making style. I believe they'll do really well here, and I will definitely return!
