The Heavy Anchor - St Louis

What a wonderful spot for a drink! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is very friendly. The boozy hot chocolate and spiced hot toddy were perfect choices for a chilly December evening.

I regret having had low expectations before attending the ska show here, but we ended up having a fantastic time. The venue is the perfect size for local bands, and you can't beat the drink prices. It was such a refreshing change to actually have an affordable night out! It felt like a dive version of the Duck Room. My only complaint is that the back patio is quite small, making it hard to enjoy fresh air without being surrounded by smoke. You can go out front for some fresh air, but then there's the risk of encountering random non-bar patrons, which is even less appealing! Overall, thank you, Heavy Anchor, for a wonderful evening. I really hope you host more ska shows in the future!

This cool punk rock bar has a relaxed, divey atmosphere. It's a great spot for catching live bands, enjoying movie nights and trivia, or simply hanging out with friends.

Great Bar venue.We love the Heavy Anchor and here's why. The owners Josh Jodie are great people that are friendly and helpful and always a pleasure to see.The venue side has a good sound system that is run professionally and there are always quality acts booked.The shows run on time and the lighting is good.The bar is well stocked with domestic craft beer as well as quality liqueurs. There is always a friendly vibe here.We have made many friends here as well. We always recommend touring bands play here when we meet them out of town. Go here,its cool and there is plenty of parking in the big lot at the end of the block..
