Bidra med feedbackMy friend and I visited this restaurant during our trip to D.C. last month and were disappointed to find out that it has been closed since Friday. Growing up cooking Burmese food with my mother, my favorite dish at Thamee was the Mohingar. The flavors of fish, lemongrass, and spices in the soup were rich and delicious. It tasted authentic and reminded me of my mother's cooking. I also loved the fermented aubergine dish, pork meat curry, and white mushroom salad. I wish the owner and all the employees at Thamee the best of luck in their future endeavors!
Thamee is a delicious dining experience! From the mouthwatering dishes coming from the kitchen to the friendly staff and their admirable business practices (such as life rewards and healthcare benefits), this restaurant is a hidden gem that should serve as a model for the culinary community in DC. I was thrilled to hear about their re-launch as a fast casual restaurant with an outdoor terrace, so I made sure to attend their soft opening. The Bago Club (citrus-forward cocktail) was a refreshing treat after a hot day, and the A Methar Hin (beef curry) with golden rice was absolutely delicious with its rich and complex flavors. I savored every bite while sitting on their terrace, soaking in the sounds and sights of H Street. Thamee is a fantastic spot, and I can't wait to visit again soon.
We originally came for the food, but ended up staying for both the delicious food and amazing drinks. The cocktails were both beautiful and tasty. After finishing our meal, we were too full for dessert. The fish, shrimp, Khao suew, and meatballs were all exceptionally tasty, but the veggie fritters were the only disappointment. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
The restaurant has a simple setting with plastic tables that easily move, but the prices are expensive. The food is average and the portion sizes are small for the price. The only saving grace was the service, which is why I gave it three stars. It's a place to try exotic food once, but I likely won't return.
The food was delicious but we felt like we were overcharged. The crispy wonton cups were priced at $14 for only two small pieces. The food did not taste authentic Burmese. It seems like they are more interested in making money than serving authentic dishes. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
